From 7½ years of on-campus, university studies in the USA, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree, B.Sc., cum laude, in Economics, a Master of Business Administration Degree, (MBA), in Finance and an earned Doctor of Philosophy Degree, (Ph.D.), in Management Studies. Dr. Ferguson taught business courses in colleges for over twenty-five (25) years. He taught at The College of The Bahamas (evenings) from 1982 to 1993 and at the local Bahamas Extension of The College of St. Benedict /St. Johns University, for fourteen (14) years. He has conducted regular Supervisory Management courses for the general public in New Providence. In retirement, he is using his natural and spiritual gift of teaching to conduct leadership, training and motivational workshops within churches, for church leaders and church workers, utilizing his book on this subject as the textbook.
Dr. Ferguson has served The Bahamas Electricity Corporation in Executive-Level management, and in Senior-Level management for just under twenty (20) years, and retired early, at age 50. Recognizing the dire need for excellence and greater professionalism in Early Education, Dr. Ferguson founded ALBANIA CHRISTIAN ACADEMY Pre-School, now a leading early childhood educational institutional for thirty (30) years. Thousands of children, especially inner-city children were thereby afforded a solid educational foundation.
Ferguson is a Pentecostal clergyman, an ordained Minister of Religion (since 1978) and an ordained Bishop, since 2012. In 1976, he was recruited by representatives of the International Headquarters of The Church of God of Prophecy, and served there, full time from 1976 to 1981, as Vice President and Dean of (the now defunct) Tomlinson College and as a liaison to the World Missions Department, with responsibility for recruiting suitable talent for theological and leadership training. Because this post authorized him to sign I-20 Immigration forms, a significant number of Bahamians, who would not have qualified otherwise, were afforded an opportunity to attend college in the USA. To date, no other Bahamian has ever served “full-time” at the International Headquarters of The Church of God of Prophecy. That organization secured Permanent Resident Status for Dr. Ferguson and paid for his doctoral studies. At home in The Bahamas, Dr. Ferguson has served in a number of spiritual leadership posts, among the more substantial being Youth Ministry Leader /Coordinator, Director of Ministerial Development & Training, and Assistant Pastor, not all in the same denomination.
